  • February 2025 Proclaimed "Black History Month" in Elliot Lake by Mayor Wannan At last night's Council Meeting Mayor Wannan made the following Proclamation which proclaimed February 2025 as Black History Month in the City of Elliot Lake. The full proclamation is below: ~ PROCLAMATION ~ WHEREAS, Black History Month is an opportunity to acknowledge and honour the historical and present contributions of Black Canadians, and recognizes their significant contributions made to Canada; and WHEREAS, during Black History Month, we celebrate the many achievements and contributions made by Black Canadians to our collective economic, cultural, spiritual and political development; and WHEREAS, the City of Elliot Lake recognizes and values the significant contributions and advances that Black Canadians have made, and continue to make to Canadian society; WHEREAS, the City of Elliot Lake recognizes the theme for Black History Month 2025 is Black Legacy and Leadership: Celebrating Canadian History and Uplifting Future Generations; NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mayor Andrew Wannan, do hereby proclaim February 2025 as Black History Month in the City of Elliot Lake and encourage all residents to celebrate our diverse heritage and culture and continue our efforts to make Elliot Lake a welcoming community for all.
  • Boil Water Advisory for 2-21 Bracken place BOIL WATER ADVISORY Effective Sunday January 26, 2025 A Boil Water Advisory is being issued for 2 – 21 Bracken Place Whenever any kind of repair or construction on the water supply system either planned or an emergency, there is a risk of soil or other contaminants entering the water supply. Although this risk is very low, a Boil Water Advisory (BWA) is issued to all residents, businesses and public facilities located along this area of the water supply system.
