  • Pride Month 2025 Proclamation Pride Month Proclamation 2025 This morning, Deputy Mayor Flintoff was joined by members of the local LGBTQ2SI community to raise the pride flag at Elliot Lake City Hall and proclaim June 2025 as Pride Month in Elliot Lake. The Proclamation reads: WHEREAS Elliot Lake is an inclusive, diverse and welcoming city for everyone; AND WHEREAS lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, queer, 2-spirit and Intersex (LGBTQ2SI) citizens work and live with Pride in Elliot Lake; AND WHEREAS lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, queer, 2-spirit and Intersex citizens make important contributions to our city; AND WHEREAS lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, queer, 2-spirit and Intersex citizens of Elliot Lake have historically faced significant challenges as they strive toward equality; AND WHEREAS Elliot Lake welcomes tourists, visitors and new residents regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity; AND WHEREAS all citizens of Elliot Lake take Pride in our diversity and celebrate our differences NOW THEREFORE, I, Charlie Flintoff, Deputy Mayor of the City of Elliot Lake hereby proclaim June 2025 as “PRIDE MONTH” in the City of Elliot Lake.
  • A Message from Fire Chief John Thomas - Take Caution When Using Fire Blankets The Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) is cautioning Ontarians on the purchase and use of fire blankets as an active fire protection device in the home. While fire blankets are increasingly advertised as an effective way to extinguish, for example, stovetop fires, there are no Canadian standards that apply to fire blankets and the use of fire blankets in Ontario is not required by law.
  • Possible Discoloured Water on Dieppe Ave. and Surrounding Area Please be aware, due to work being done on the water system residents on Dieppe Avenue and the surrounding streets may experience discoloured water beginning Monday, May 26th at 1pm. If you experience discoloured water please run your cold water until it is clear.
  • Reminder - Hazardous and Special Waste Collection Day happening Wednesday, May 28th, 2025 Every year the City of Elliot Lake operates a Municipal Hazardous and Special Waste Collection Day. This allows residents to drop off all hazardous materials that should not be disposed of during our weekly curbside garbage collection program or the clean up week.
  • Reminder - Landfill Amnesty Week is May 26 - 31, 2025 (excluding May 27) Tipping fees will be waived for residential waste at the Elliot Lake landfill site on the following dates and times: Monday, May 26 from Noon to 7PM Wednesday, May 28 from Noon to 7PM Thursday, May 29 from Noon to 7PM Friday, May 30 from Noon to 7PM and Saturday, May 31 from 9AM to 5PM Regular fees will apply to all vehicles entering the landfill on Tuesday, May 27. This is to avoid having the commercial garbage trucks wait in line as they perform their curbside duties.

  • Lineup announced for Summer in the Park Concert Series presented by Seidel's Brandsource The Summer in the Park Concert Series is back for 2025 presented by Seidel's BrandSource Home Furnishings! Summer is fast approaching, and to help celebrate 70 years of Elliot Lake we have an extra special summer concert series lineup including talent from all over Elliot Lake, Algoma and Ontario! Starting us off on June 30th as part of this year's Heritage Days Festivities will be The Dustcovers! The husband and wife duo of Tom and Alyssa have been playing music together for years, performing a variety of acoustic music in their own signature style including covers and originals. Next up on July 18th we have local favourite Harmony! Veterans of the Summer in the Park Concert Series, Debbie, Sheila and Mike have played at festivals and events all across Algoma and Sudbury with their relaxed acoustic style and make an excellent addition to this year's concert series! The 3rd performance is a special one.
  • *REMINDER* Public Notice of Simulated Emergency Exercise Happening Tomorrow, May 13 Public Notice of Simulated Emergency Exercise On Tuesday, May 13th Rio Algom Limited (RAL), a wholly owned subsidiary of BHP, in conjunction with local stakeholders, will be conducting a simulated field emergency response exercise from 8:00am to 3:00 pm Eastern Time. The exercise is being coordinated to provide a training opportunity and evaluate interagency response capabilities.
