Elliot Lake Family Health Team
The Elliot Lake Family Health Team is a group of healthcare professionals, including family doctors, nurses, social workers, dietitians and other professionals who work to provide healthcare services for the community.
With many healthcare practitioners working with each other, it decreases the need for emergency room and hospital visits for routine health concerns. The initiative was started by the Government of Ontario.
In Elliot Lake, this team is located under one roof at 31 Nova Scotia Walk. You can also find a pharmacy and a private blood work and analysis lab.
St. Joseph's Manor is a long-term care facility that adjoins the hospital. It provides a home-like environment for those whose daily requirements are too extensive to be met by family or professional caregivers. Physicians provide continuous medical care and residents can participate in leisure experiences that help meet the social, emotional, physical, cognitive and spiritual needs. The manor offers therapeutic programs in the facility and out in the community.
To qualify, applicants must meet the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care guidelines to take advantage of the services. The Government of Ontario sets accommodation rates and adjust based on income.
