About our service

Fire protection is funded and serviced by the City of Elliot Lake. The Fire Protection and Prevention Act outlines our role. You can also visit the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), which provides useful information about safety regulations and the impact of fire in your community.

Our Fire Department is also a key member of our Emergency Preparedness Plan. Read more on what to do during an emergency and the dangers of wildfires in our area.

The Elliot Lake Fire Department is a 24-hour service dedicated to providing emergency response and rescue services.
The department also handles Fire Training, Emergency Planning and offers tours of the Fire Station.

Fire Prevention

Fire prevention reduces loss of life and property by removing fire hazards and enforcing the rules and regulations that enhance public safety.

Burn Permits and Inspections

The Fire Department issues burn permits and performs inspections of lands, buildings and facilities.

Our Fire Department members include:

  • Fire Chief
  • Emergency Management Coordinator and Administrative Assistant to the Chief
  • 22 firefighters, including 9 full-time members and 13 volunteer members

The Fire Department's equipment and vehicles include:

  • Two fire pumpers
  • One 95-foot platform, aerial ladder fire truck
  • Two four-wheel drive trucks
  • One all-terrain vehicle or ATV (bush fire handling)
  • One 16-foot boat (search and rescue and cottage lot protection)
  • Fire Chief's truck
