Policing services in Elliot Lake are provided by the East Algoma (Elliot Lake) detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). You can find their headquarters at 47 Hillside Dr. N., next to City Hall.

For all emergencies requiring immediate attention, please call 9-1-1. For non-emergencies, you can reach the detachment at 705-848-6975 or toll-free at 1-888-310-1122. Patrolling Elliot Lake

The OPP patrols City streets and surrounding highways 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The East Algoma OPP detachment is made up of many dedicated staff, including:

  • Uniformed officers
  • Sergeants
  • Staff sergeants
  • An inspector
  • Detectives

OPP programs and services

The OPP offers a full range of outreach services, such as:

  • Marine patrol on waterways
  • All-terrain vehicle (ATV) patrol on trails and off-road areas
  • Motorized snow vehicle (MSV) patrol on winter trails and frozen lakes
  • School programs
  • Presentations with service clubs
  • Close work with senior citizens on special needs and concerns
