Join the Transit Accessibility Review Working Group

Are you passionate about creating a more inclusive and accessible Elliot Lake?
The Accessibility Advisory Committee is seeking enthusiastic community members to join the Transit Accessibility Review Working Group as we shape the future of accessibility in our city!

What’s the Plan?
This working group will help shape a more inclusive and accessible transit system for everyone. This group will support City Staff, the Accessibility Advisory Committee, and the Accessibility Plan Review Working Group in reviewing current services, identifying barriers, gathering community input, and recommending practical improvements that align with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Integrated Accessibility Standards as per Amending O. Reg. 191/11.

Why Join?
This is your chance to make a real difference in how transit serves our community. We’re looking for up to five (5) members of the public – including individuals with disabilities, seniors, caregivers, and accessibility advocates – who want to share their lived experiences and ideas. By participating, you’ll help ensure our transit system works for everyone and reflects the needs of all users.

When & How
The Working Group will meet monthly or as needed, with flexibility for virtual, in-person, or hybrid participation. Meetings will be supported by City staff, including the Accessibility Coordinator, and will include collaboration with transit operators, drivers, users, and members of the Accessibility Advisory Committee. The group will remain active for up to 12 months, culminating in a final report of recommendations to the advisory committee.
