St. Joseph’s General Hospital Welcomes Emergency Department Physician Dr. Alexander Popa

St. Joseph’s General Hospital Elliot Lake is pleased to announce the signing of Dr. Alexander Popa to a two-year contract in the Emergency Department. Dr. Popa has supported the hospital’s emergency team over the past several months and will now continue to provide parttime coverage. His presence will help address ongoing staffing gaps and support the delivery of 24-7 emergency services for the community.
Dr. Popa brings expertise in both sports medicine and emergency care. He completed his
general medical training in Kingston before pursuing additional training in sport and exercise
medicine, as well as emergency medicine, in Ottawa. He has a special interest in pain medicine and ultrasound-guided interventions.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Popa enjoys motorcycling, hockey and basketball. The hospital is pleased to welcome him to Elliot Lake as a valued addition to its dedicated emergency department team.
