Rogers Arena Update - May 2, 2025

City staff and contractors have continued making meaningful progress on the Rogers Arena project, and we’re pleased to share the following updates:

Roof Work:
Roofing work is nearly finished, with only some final flashing remaining to be installed. This work will be completed as other exterior work progresses for the project.

Foundation:
Foundation upgrades are now resuming after work was paused over the winter to allow for additional soil testing and engineering analysis. A redesigned plan and updated design were presented to Council at last night’s Special Council Meeting. The revised plan calls for 4 micro piles per column—doubling the original—to ensure long-term structural integrity of the Arena.

Following the presentation and a lengthy question period, Council approved an additional $1.66 million (plus taxes) to support this crucial work.

The foundation design team anticipates that this phase of work will be completed in August 2025.
However, further steps will be needed to recommission the facility. City staff are currently assessing the scope, costs, and timeline required to reopen the arena.
