Rogers Arena Update – March 11, 2025

As the winter season comes to an end and work on the Rogers Arena resumes the City of Elliot Lake would like to provide an update on the arena as well as next steps going forward.

Geotech Investigation:
The Bore Hole work for the Geotech Investigation has been completed on both sides of the arena and WRD is now beginning the engineering work for the foundation modifications that will be put in place based on the Investigations report. This engineering work is expected to be completed within the next few weeks. Once the engineering work has been completed the actual foundation work will begin. The current hope is that this work will begin mid-April and be completed approx. 3 months after work begins.

Roofing Work:
The temporary shoring that has been put in place to support the roof through the winter has been operating as expected and no major issues have occurred. This shoring should allow JCI to complete the remaining roofing work this summer.

The City would like to extend our thanks to you for your continued patience and understanding throughout this repair process. We understand the significant impact that the Arena closure has had on the community throughout the past 2 years and City Staff remain committed to ensuring that it is open again as soon as possible.
