Every day, City of Elliot Lake employees work hard to provide essential services and support to our community. Whether assisting residents at a customer service counter, answering calls, maintaining our parks and roads, responding to service requests, or working behind the scenes, our employees are committed to serving our community with professionalism and care.

We kindly ask everyone to treat our staff with patience, courtesy, and respect. Everyone deserves to feel safe and respected while performing their job.

The City will not tolerate abusive, threatening, or disrespectful behaviour toward its employees. We appreciate the continued support and kindness shown by the vast majority of our residents and thank you for helping make Elliot Lake a welcoming and respectful community for all.

No Lifeguards at City Beaches Thursday, July 16 Due to Poor Air Quality

Lifeguards have been removed from Spruce Beach and Spine Beach for today, Thursday, July 16th due to continuing poor air quality.

This precautionary measure has been taken to protect the health and safety of our staff and the public. Poor air quality can pose health risks, particularly for children, older adults, pregnant individuals, and those with heart or lung conditions.

Residents are encouraged to limit or reschedule outdoor activities, especially strenuous exercise, until air quality improves. If you experience symptoms such as coughing, difficulty breathing, or irritation of the eyes or throat, move indoors and seek medical advice if symptoms persist.

Please note that while the beaches remain open, there will be no lifeguard supervision today. Swimming is at your own risk.

The City will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as they become available. For more information on air quality and health during wildfire smoke, please follow the recommendations of Algoma Public Health.
