Extreme Weather Event Update from Public Works Department

The City of Elliot Lake is currently working to clean up after a Significant Weather Event. While Public Works crews are working diligently, it is taking longer than normal to ensure public safety and bring roadways, sidewalks, and transit stops back to standard maintenance levels. Public Works continues to monitor the weather, patrol the roadways, and deploy all available crews to address the accumulation.

During this time, all roads and sidewalks maintained by the City are considered to be in a "state of repair" until further notice. This is a formal designation indicating that, due to the severity of the storm, the City is working toward safety standards but cannot meet normal clearing timelines. We ask that drivers and pedestrians use an appropriate level of caution when travelling during this event.

While the parking by-law remains in effect, we also ask motorists to avoid parking on city streets during the day. This significantly assists our crews in clearing the roads efficiently and safely. Updates will be posted to the City's website and social media sites as the situation evolves.
