Citywide Planned Power Outage Scheduled for August 9th from 7am to 1pm

Hydro One has announced that there will be a planned power outage for the entirety of Elliot Lake on Sunday, August 9th from 7am until 1pm.

Approximately 6,100 Hydro One customers in the Municipality of Elliot Lake will be affected by the outage. Outages are scheduled for when the least amount of energy is being used to minimize impact to customers.

Customers are encouraged to prepare for the upcoming outage through the following actions:
1. Ensure appliances, such as the stove, are in the off position
2. Fully charge cellphones and other devices
3. Use a battery-powered alarm clock or cellphone so morning alarms aren’t missed
4. Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible and use a cooler with ice for items needed during the planned outage
5. If water services will be affected at your home, consider filling jugs of water to use for drinking and cooking
6. If using a generator, remember to use it in a dry area outdoors away from any open windows, doors and vents
