City of Elliot Lake Hires New Chief Building Official

We are pleased to announce the appointment of William McCaffrey as the new Chief Building Official (CBO), effective April 22, 2025.

 

With over 25 years of experience in the construction and regulatory field, William brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership in the application of the Ontario Building Code (OBC) and various other regulatory requirements.

 

Having worked on a wide range of projects, from residential builds to large-scale commercial and industrial developments, he has extensive experience in inspections, plans review, zoning reviews, and working collaboratively with design professionals, developers, and stakeholders. He has a proven track record of ensuring public safety while balancing the needs of the development community.

 

In addition to technical expertise, William is a proven leader, having mentored staff and played a key role in policy development and process improvement. We are confident that he will make a significant contribution to our team and the City of Elliot Lake’s continued growth and success.

 

Outside of his professional work, he is deeply committed to giving back to the community through volunteerism. He has taken on multiple leadership roles, successfully overseeing events and initiatives. His dedication to fostering positive change, building meaningful relationships, and supporting community development highlights his passion for making a lasting impact. William has also served as a coach and board member for several local youth sports organizations, further showcasing his commitment to nurturing growth and creating opportunities for others.
