Be Prepared for Freezing Rain

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a Special Weather Statement for this upcoming weekend with the potential of freezing rain late Friday into Monday.
The ECCC warns that due to the significant ice accretion, utility outages may occur.

The City of Elliot Lake would like to remind the public:

  • Have your 72-hour emergency kit ready. Be prepared for power outages.
  • Carbon monoxide kills: NEVER use a generator, BBQ, propane inside an enclosed area.
  • Check on family, friends and neighbours.
  • Carry an emergency car kit and a mobile phone. Ensure others are informed of travel schedules and destinations if you must travel.
  • Continue to monitor local weather forecasts. Listen to local news, radio, and the City’s social media sites.
