City Leaders Advance Local Priorities in Meetings with Provincial Government

Elliot Lake leaders were at Queen’s Park this week, pressing forward on key community priorities in a series of productive meetings with senior members of the provincial government.

Mayor Andrew Wannan and Deputy Mayor Charlie Flintoff travelled to Toronto alongside Economic Development Manager Steve Antunes and Director of Finance Andrew Ault to highlight the city’s needs and opportunities, particularly around economic growth, infrastructure, and long-term community development.

“We appreciated the warm reception from Premier Ford and his team, and the government’s continued commitment to investing in Northern Ontario communities like Elliot Lake,” said Mayor Wannan. “These conversations are critical to ensuring our residents receive the support and attention they deserve.”

Deputy Mayor Flintoff underscored the strength of the city’s relationship with its provincial partners.

“Elliot Lake is fortunate to have strong representation at Queen’s Park,” Flintoff said. “We are especially grateful to our local MPP, Bill Rosenberg, for tirelessly championing the projects that matter most to our community.”

Over the two-day visit, the delegation met with several elected officials and ministers’ offices, building on ongoing discussions and reinforcing the city’s priorities directly with provincial decision-makers.

The meetings are part of Elliot Lake’s continued efforts to secure strategic investments and advance long-term planning for the city’s growth and prosperity.
