Elliot Lake is located at the centre of one of Ontario's largest trail networks. You can use many different trails to hike, bike, ski or ride. You can find diverse wildlife and great lookout points throughout many of the trails in the area.

The trails found around Elliot Lake include:
Horne Lake Trail |
The challenging Horne Lake Trail begins at Miners' Memorial Park and loops 6 km around Horne Lake. You will find terrific views of the lake and the city. More experienced hikers can also scale nearby cliffs for views that are higher up. |
Westview Nature Trail |
The 3.5 km Westview Nature Trail starts at Westview Park and follows the south shore of Elliot Lake. There are boardwalks over rocky or boggy sections. You will pass two beach areas with picnic facilities before joining the Spine Road Cross Country Ski Trail. You can also hike this trail. |
Porridge Lake Trail |
The new Porridge Lake Trail leads you around the shore of Porridge Lake, with many homes always close by. |
In Town Trails |
You can find many neighbourhood trails throughout Elliot Lake. This is because the city was built into the landscape and natural terrain when it was formed. Many forests connect with trail systems or city streets in Elliot Lake. These trails are ideal if you like to stay close to home. |

Fire Tower Lookout Trail |
The Fire Tower Lookout Trail passes the Mount Dufour Ski Hill, Westner Lake and the Fire Tower Lookout. The 4.5 km trail loops around the lookout and the lake. At the top, you will find a 360-degree view of the area. |
Red Briffet Memorial Trail |
The Red Briffet Trail begins at Spine Road Beach and follows the Spine Road Ski Trail. Experienced hikers can continue to High Falls, where you can find scenic vistas. The climb to the point is more rugged, but offers many great views. You can fish or picnic at the main stop, Quimby Falls, along the way. |
Sherriff Creek Trails |
The Sherriff Creek Wildlife Sanctuary offers hiking trails that lead through marshes and forests. These trails are great opportunities to see all different kinds of bird species. Use a bird blind, loon and goose nesting platforms and bird boxes to see the amazing wildlife in the area. The trails you can choose from include:
