The Trailhead pavilion is located at the corner of Highway 17 and Highway 108. It is the starting point of the Deer Trail Driving Tour which encourages visitors to explore the City of Elliot Lake and visit the Welcome Centre as well as the Fire Tower Lookout and Rangers' Heritage Centre. There is plenty of parking and places to rest at the Trailhead. It is open from the long weekend in May through the Thanksgiving weekend.
Route and trails
The Deer Trail Driving Tour is a three-to-four hour, 120 km journey in East Algoma that takes you through breathtaking vistas, ancient lakes, cascading waterfalls, high cliffs, unique flora and fauna and gorgeous views. The deciduous trees surround the road and offer fresh, clean air in the unspoiled wilderness.
The route travels from the trailhead through Elliot Lake to Mississagi Provincial Park, southwest to Little White River and Iron Bridge, then east to Blind River, Algoma Mills and Spragge. Many points of interest are scattered in between for you to enjoy.
You can also access ATV and snowmobile trails throughout the route.
