The Ruben Yli-Juuti-Centre is currently closed for maintenance.

We operate several different swimming programs at the aquatics centre. Our programs are available for children, youth, adults, and seniors, and are open for anyone to join. You can choose between drop-in programs and registered swimming programs.

Membership and fees

View our program and drop-in rates. You can pay for your swimming program or membership at the aquatics centre's front desk. If you think you need help to afford the fees, view our affordable access opportunities.

Schedule

The swimming programs at the Ruben-Yli Juuti Centre are subject to change. Check out our Facebook page for cancellations and alterations.

Drop-in Programs

If you would just like to attend the aquatics centre for one day, you can take part in one of many of our drop-in programs.

Public swim

Our public swim program is open to those of all ages. Review our aquatics centre rules before attending a public swim session.

Distance swim

During the distance swim program, all six pool lanes are reserved for lane swimming. You must be able to comfortably swim 25 metres in deep water to participate. The whirlpool is open during distance swim programming.

To ensure a positive distance swim experience:

  • Observe the pace of swimmers to determine the proper lane for you
  • Be considerate and respectful of other swimmers
  • Talk to a lifeguard if you need help

Silver Dolphins

The Silver Dolphins program is geared to meet the needs of seniors. The program is a pool exercise class, led by an instructor. You are able to exercise at your own pace.

Aquafit and Deep Water Aquafit

Aquafit is a pool workout, taking place in shallow water. This fast-paced class combines cardio and strength training. You can use pool noodles as weights. The program's focus is strengthening your core, upper and lower body.

Deep Water Aquafit is a pool exercise program designed for skilled swimmers who are comfortable in deep water. You can use aqua belts for deep water running and take part in synchronized swimming. The program's focus is on strengthening your core and improving stability.

Arthritis program

The arthritis program is a low-impact pool workout led by an instructor in shallow water. The program focuses on relieving joint pain around your fingers, knees and hips and improving overall wellness.

Registered Programs

You can register for our long-term swimming programs.

Swimming lessons

You can enroll in child, youth or adult swimming lessons at different sessions throughout the year. Certified instructors lead the lessons. They range from Beginner and Tot lessons to Bronze Cross level. You can also register for private lessons.

To register, call 705-848-2287 ext. 2500 or email the aquatics centre.

Elliot Lake Aquatics Club (ELAC)

Children and youth aged 5 to 18 can join the Elliot Lake Aquatics Club (ELAC). The club provides coaching and training in competitive swimming. To join, you must be comfortable swimming in the pool and have basic swimming abilities. ELAC members host and attend swim meets all across Ontario.

To get involved, speak with a staff member, call 705-848-2287 ext. 2500 or email the aquatics centre.

Masters swimming

The Elliot Lake Aquatics Club offers a Masters swimming program for adults aged 18 and over. The program runs three seasonal sessions per year during the spring, fall and winter months. The program offers on-deck coaches and is suitable for all swim levels.

Speak with a staff member, call 705-848-2287 ext. 2500, or email the aquatics centre for more information.
