Elliot Lake has one of Ontario's longest snowmobile seasons with lots of snow and trails available to conquer. Snowmobiling is one of the city's most popular winter activities because of the groomed trails that passionate riders have been developing for years. Our snowmobiling trails are often cited as some of the best in all of Ontario!

Trails

We support and invest in the Elliot Lake Snowbirds. The Snowbirds develop and maintain about 270 kilometres of groomed snowmobile trails around the city and surrounding area. The club always welcomes new members.

Our trails include:

  • Back Country Trails
  • Deer Trail Loop
  • May Lake Loop
  • North Shore Loop
  • Secret Hydro Loop

Wilderness trails and routes in the city

Much of the surrounding area around Elliot Lake is public land full of wilderness. You don't have to go far to explore thousands of kilometres of ungroomed wilderness and portage trails. Elliot Lake is located at the intersection of three Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs routes, meaning you can return to the city in five different directions.

These looped trails direct back to Elliot Lake and you can find snowmobile-friendly businesses operating along the groomed trail system.

The communities next to us are snowmobile-friendly, so you can enjoy travelling without having to worry of getting too far.

Visit Algoma Sno-Plan Affiliation for more information on trail conditions, permits and more.

Staging Area

The Elliot Lake Snowbirds are thrilled to announce a new Snowmobile staging area in the City of Elliot Lake.  This parking spot, exclusively for OFSC permit holders, is located just north of the Elliot Lake Municipal Airport and provides visitors to the area a safe place to offload their sleds and hit the trails.  The lot is conveniently located near the trail system so riders can be enjoying the area’s world class trail system right away.
