The Secret Hydro Loop is named because visiting riders riding the hydro line call this trail the best kept secret in Ontario. The loop itself is mapped, well groomed, well marked and well travelled. However, those that ride the trail get a feeling of solitude while finding thrills along the run. Everyone who rides the trail like to call it their own.
Route details
- Distance: 136 kilometres and can be extended across the North Shore Loop.
- Suggested time: One day or less with connections to portage routes north of Elliot Lake.
- Rating: Easy to moderate.
The Secret Hydro Loop takes snowmobilers from the hydro line leaving Elliot Lake to Iron Bridge (50 kilometres). The return trip takes you through a former logging road where you may see some deer. The trail is especially beautiful in the falling snow and it feels like you are riding through a calm and serene snow tunnel.
The route is an easy day trip and keeps riders close to the safety and convenience of the area's snowmobile friendly communities.
