We are committed to making our community safe in Elliot Lake. Responding to an emergency requires the co-operation of everyone in Elliot Lake. It is important to know the roles we all play in an emergency.
Emergency Preparedness Week May 3 to 9, 2026
Emergency Preparedness Week is a national awareness initiative and an opportunity for you to take action to ensure you're prepared to protect yourself, your family and your community during an emergency. This year, Ontario's theme is Prepared Together. Emergencies can happen without warning. Before, during and after an emergency, neighbours, friends and community groups play a vital role. Strong community connections reduce stress and help speed up recovery.
By taking a few simple steps, you can become better prepared to face a range of emergencies – anytime, anywhere. It is important to:
- Know the risks – Although the consequences of disasters can be similar, knowing the risks specific to our community and our region can help you better prepare.
- Make a plan – Have a household emergency plan that includes communication, evacuation, pets, and support for anyone needing extra help.
- Get an emergency kit – Prepare at least 72 hours of supplies, including food, water, medications, flashlights, important documents and a grab and go kit.

The ERP provides key Elliot Lake officials, agencies and departments with important response information on topics such as:
The ERP also includes an evacuation plan in case all residents must leave the city immediately. |
