Our goal is to make the library as accessible as possible. We offer group tours and class visits to provide different audiences with exposure to library resources, services and facilities.
To schedule a group tour, contact Pat McGurk, Chief Librarian.
If possible, please schedule group visits at least one month in advance.
Class visits
Class visits are an important library program aimed at creating a partnership between schools and public libraries. Library visits empower youth to be independent thinkers and learners.
We can provide different types of visits for your class, including library scavenger hunts, library card membership drives, story and craft times and more.
Request a class visit by contacting Pat McGurk, Chief Librarian. When you get in touch, please let us know what type of visit you're interested in.
Teachers and teaching assistants must be present at all times during class visits.
Making the most of your class visit
- Tie your visit to a class project. This increases the relevance of the visit for your students and allows them to put new skills into practice right away.
- Send your students project ideas or expectations about what you want them to get out of their visit before coming to the library.
- Always contact the librarian before you visit. Librarians can keep you informed about new books or databases, and even changes in the library that may have an impact on your visit.
