The library has a limited number of Kobo Glo eReaders available for loan to adult patrons with library cards. eReaders can be checked out and returned through the circulation desk during library operating hours.
The availability of library eReaders is made possible with funding from the Government of Ontario.
Loans, returns and renewals
The loan period for eReaders is two weeks. The eReader borrowing policy must be signed prior to check-out. Loans can be renewed only one time at the circulation desk, as long as no one is waiting to sign out a device. Overdue fees of $5 per day will apply if an eReader is returned late.
eReaders can be returned only through the circulation desk. They may not be returned in the library's drop box, as this could result in damage to the device.
Borrowing policies
Only adults with a valid library card and no overdue books or fines may borrow eReaders. You may loan only one Kobo eReader at a time.
All contents of each eReader kit must be returned together. You are responsible for any damages to the eReader and its accessories at the following costs:
- $150 for lost or damaged eReaders
- $15 for lost or damaged USB power cords
- $25 for lost or damaged leather Kobo cases
Downloading eBooks
If you're borrowing an eReader, you can use the designated library computer to download eBooks from Overdrive. The computer is for downloading to the library's Kobo eReaders, and not for personal devices. You may also download books to library eReaders from your home computer.
Getting help
Library staff are available to assist you in logging into and out of Overdrive. They can also answer questions about the library's Kobo Glo eReaders.
If you need help downloading eBooks and audiobooks, you can make an appointment with library staff during Tech Tuesdays. You are responsible for searching and selecting titles to download.
