The East Algoma Community Futures Development Corporation (CFDC) is a federally supported not-for-profit Community Futures Development Corporation. Governed by a Board of local volunteers, EACFDC supports community economic development by assisting East Algoma communities and entrepreneurs and offering help with Financing and Loans. The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) is a Government of Ontario initiative to create job opportunities in northern communities. Millworks Centre for Entrepreneurship |
Founded in May 2016, Millworks - Centre for Entrepreneurship began a new approach to fully embrace the importance of supporting new and existing businesses in the community. With support through the City of Sault Ste. Marie, in conjunction with the Ministry of Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, along with the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines, a strong ecosystem of stakeholders and supporters has been created. This ecosystem has allowed Millworks to deliver programs and services to Sault Ste. Marie and the Algoma Region. |

The Ontario government is making it easier to start and grow a business with the launch of the new Ontario.ca/business website. The website is one of the initiatives being implemented as part of the Fewer Fees, Better Services Act, which received Royal Assent on March 3, 2022, and builds on successive efforts to cut red tape and reduce unnecessary regulatory burdens for businesses. This new resource is the first step towards creating a single window for business that will reduce administrative burdens and make it easier for Ontario business owners and entrepreneurs to access the information and services they need to get up-and-running, create jobs, and grow their business. |
