There are animal services and by-laws in the City of Elliot Lake. We provide most of these services, but some third party organizations are responsible for others.
Pet tags
2026 Pet Tags Are Available Now!
You need pet tags for all dogs and cats in your household.
You can use our online form to order and pay for your pet tags. All pet tags will be mailed, at no extra cost, to the address provided on the form.

Transfer of License (no discount) $5.15
You must have proof that your pet has been spayed or neutered to qualify for a reduced rate on pet tags, as well as proof of rabies vaccination. All dogs and cats in the Elliot lake area must be licensed and the tag must be attached to your dog or cat at all times.
As per By-law 22-100 the maximum number of pets per residence is 5; no more than 3 dogs or 3 cats.

Animal Control
Animal control enforces by-laws relating to animals in the city. We also promote responsible pet ownership through public education.
Wildlife
The wildlife by-law prohibits the feeding of wildlife in Elliot Lake.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) is responsible for all other wildlife issues. Visit the MNRF website for more on wildlife and wildlife services.

Elliot Lake is covered under the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA).
